R2-D2

Another iconic character from the Star Wars series, R2-D2 is now available in 3D. It took quite some time to get this far, but I'm confident that it's good enough for printing now. This model is optimized specifically for the Ultimaker and has been split into 12 parts (V1) or 16 parts (V2), as explained in the comments below. Unlike the AT-ST Walker, this design was drawn from scratch, resulting in a more adjustable model when printed at its full size. When assembled, it will measure 100% of A3 paper size. Feel free to scale down if needed. For reference, R2-D2's story and characteristics can be found on Wikipedia. Good luck with your print! This design is exclusively available on Youmagine. Revisions: August 28th, 2013: The dome V1 has been split into five pieces to minimize parts with overhangs. New files include Dome V2.stl, Lens dome V1 (3x).stl, and Dome front lens V1.stl. With Cura's multi-part printing now working smoothly, there's no reason not to split it. Thanks go out to Daid and Ultimaker for their help! September 3rd, 2013: I've printed all parts at 50% and found some issues with the print quality. The middle foot part (V2) had multiple problems, so a new version of it has been created. Improvements on this part include increased wall thickness, better inner structure, and stronger detail effects.
