R-CNC Z Axis Anti-backlash POM nut adapter for ACME 8mm-lead 2mm
thingiverse
After several months with an ACME leadscrew and its standard nut, I am experiencing significant backlash in the Z-axis. These POM nuts are affordable (1.44€) and can be set to zero backlash. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1Pcs-Openbuilds-8mm-Acme-Anti-Backlash-nut-block-POM-PEFT-filled-Delrin-Moving-distance-2-4/32816893083.html?spm=2114.search0104.3.1.50e41879R4uDJ3&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_2_10152_10151_10065_10344_10068_10342_10343_10340_10341_10084_10083_10618_10305_10304_10307_10306_10302_10313_10059_10184_10534_100031_10103_10627_10626_10624_10623_10622_10621_10620,searchweb201603_2,ppcSwitch_3&algo_expid=e4eb7c00-a184-4dd5-9a8b-614a5f7078dd-0&algo_pvid=e4eb7c00-a184-4dd5-9a8b-614a5f7078dd&transAbTest=ae803_3&priceBeautifyAB=0 Choose the lead 2mm option (if your ACME is indeed 2mm). You will need two M5 bolts, two M5x25mm screws with a hex head, and one M5x15mm or 20mm screw with a hex head. Make sure to position the setting screw below. I have not used it extensively, but it appears to work effectively (and with zero backlash). Additional information: Purchase a 250mm ACME lead screw with a 2mm lead (approximately 4-5€ from China). Cut it down to 222mm. In your firmware, set the steps per unit to 3200 for a 32 microsteps driver or 1600 for a 16 microsteps driver.
