R/C Helicopter Rear Rotor Blade

R/C Helicopter Rear Rotor Blade

As soon as my buddy heard about my brand-new 3D printer, he started scouring his shelves for items I could print for him. His remote-controlled helicopter had a cracked rear rotor blade, so I volunteered to give it a shot. The copter itself is no high-tech gadget, just a low-cost toy with no discernible name or model other than "Tough-Copter". I printed this twice to perfect the design. Initially, I used a raft and supports with the blade standing upright as usual. Unfortunately, the support material on the underside of the blades was incredibly difficult to remove cleanly and smoothly from such a slender part. Next, I printed it again with a brim instead of a raft and supports, but this time I rotated the blade 90 degrees sideways. This added reinforcement to just the bottom half of the middle cylinder and the mounting points for the blades. It appears that this is the ideal orientation for printing.
