R/C Halo Warthog built on Redcat Gen8
thingiverse
It was brought to my attention that the Mattel 12" Halo Warthog is almost exactly the right wheelbase to fit perfectly on the Redcat Gen8, and that the Gen8 has enough adjustment to make it a seamless fit. I immediately knew I had to build one, and I had to do it right. Meaning, it had to have four-wheel steering, and it needed to look as accurate as possible. https://youtu.be/24YcIarx4DM To get started: * A Mattel 12" Halo Warthog and the willingness to disassemble it * A Redcat Gen8 or Gen8 PACK, plus electronics and Gen7 or Gen8 wheels * The Redcat Gen8 Rear Shorty Battery Mod * The 4-wheel steering mod that I created, which will require additional axle parts and a servo * Two Chassis Side Body Mounts * One Body Side body mount v2 * One Rear body side body mount * Four Wheel Covers * A Warthog ESC Mount * Gen8 Frame Rail Screw brackets are highly recommended when not using the traditional battery tray or Gen8 side panels * The Gen8 Receiver relocation bracket * It's recommended to run a hard case shorty lipo This is not a custom build for beginners. The changes to the chassis are irreversible without buying new frame rails. The build requires patience and skill, especially when trimming the plastic. The finished product, due to its printed parts, may not be as strong as the original gen8 and may not survive rough terrain or jumps.
