R/C Chassis Assembly Jig

thingiverse

An assembly jig for constructing RC vehicle chassis helps in squaring the entire build. Photos illustrate how wheelbase control is achieved through axle placement and used parts. The jig will be updated with future additions. Base Mounts secure other parts to the base, while Wheelbase/Axle Mounts maintain axle distance and rigidity for control arm mounting. In the assembly, an aluminum plate of 12" x 24" x 1/4" serves as the base with 8-32 holes at 1" intervals. Base Mounts are 1/8" x 3/4" Aluminum angles, cut to 1/2" lengths and drilled with a #29 bit. A slot is also carved on one leg using a 3/16" end mill. Wheelbase/Axle Mounts, made from 1/8" x 2" x 2-1/2" flat Aluminum, have a 1-1/2" long slot centered at 1/2" down from the top edge and two holes in bottom corners for Base Mount attachment. Slots are marked with 1/8" intervals to accurately position axles as desired.
