Qx70 Motor / Prop Riser
thingiverse
The stock QX70 prop sits too low in the duct. I designed a very simple part that will lift the motors so the props get enough clearance. It's more elegant than using hot glue and looks better. There are two versions: one raises it up by about 2-3mm, while the "tall" version adds an extra 3mm. You may want to experiment to see which ones work best for you. Printing Instructions: I used a .20 layer height when printing this part. To print it, you'll need a nozzle that's .40 or smaller since the walls are very thin. If your slicer struggles with printing the full model, check your nozzle settings - you may be able to adjust the nozzle size manually to .40 or less. You can use almost any filament for this. I recommend ABS or flexible filament so it holds up better in crashes, but even PLA should work. These parts are extremely light when printed with PLA; my slicer tells me they weigh about 0.38 grams each. Installing Instructions: Remove the propeller and the rubber band that holds the motor wires. Carefully lift the motor out of its holder so you don't damage the duct supports - no need to unplug it, but be gentle not to push the motor with too much force as this can damage the wiring. Drop the prop riser into the motor holder and shift it so it sits on top of the peg. Keep the wires out of the way so they don't sit between the motor and the riser - there's plenty of room for it to sit on. Push the motor back down into its holder, making sure it sits on top of the prop riser. Add the propeller back on, and you're good to go!
