I'm excited to share with you a QX07 19” Rack Mount For Audio/Visual Studio, DJ Equipment, ATX Computers, Phone Equipment, etc. that will make your own custom server or custom rack for DJ or Band! I've been using these with 300 Watt Amps unsupported in the back with no warping or sagging for 18 months! These great designs use 10-24 nuts and machine screws, which can also be used with 10-32's. The Hex Nuts stay put in their recessed area, but a dab of glue wouldn't hurt! The Rackmount pieces are designed to accommodate a #10 Woodscrew to affix the pieces to the wooden interior of an enclosure or stud guides. #10 machine screws can be used with a nut for other materials. A STEP FILE of the model is included so that you may modify the fastener dimensions for another size. The design I have submitted is for use with an enclosure with an interior width of 20” or 508mm, which are nice even numbers if you're designing an enclosure from scratch or just throwing up studs in your closet for your own server. In the Rackmount World, measurements of equipment height are called “UNITS” and are given the symbol “U”. 1U = 1 Unit. And 1U = 1.75” or 44.45mm. A pair of my large pieces - the largest number of Units I can fit on my bed - can hold 4U’s each, which is about 7”. My design accounts for shrinkage of PLA and are designed and tested to be stacked upon each other for additional units. My smaller pieces accommodate 2U's for each printed pair and are made to stack as well. For my Combo-Amp project, I printed 2 pair of the larger pieces and 1 pair of the smaller pieces to accommodate 10 U’s in my system. If you must have a different interior dimension, then it's super easy to do! Merely take the difference in your desired width and my standard width (20” or 508 mm). Take the larger number - whichever one that is! - and subtract the smaller one from it. Divide that difference by 2. This is your ADJUSTMENT NUMBER! Bring my STEP File into your CAD program. If your interior dimension is LARGER than 20” (508 mm), then ADD (extrude, usually) the distance of your ADJUSTMENT NUMBER to the ADJUSTING FACE of the model! If your interior dimension is SMALLER than 20” (508 mm), then SUBTRACT (extrude negative or use a different toolpath) the distance of your ADJUSTMENT NUMBER from the ADJUSTING FACE of the model! The “Left” and “Right” pieces are identical, so you don't have to mirror them! Just print two of the same model, and flip/mirror one of them! INTERIOR HEIGHT MINIMUM NOTE: To figure out interior Height of your enclosure, take an EVEN number of Units (U’s) you want to use, multiply by 1.75”, and then add 0.625” to cover for clearance of the finished top and bottom. For example, if I have 2 amps that are 2U's each, and 6 components that are 1U each for a total of 10 U’s, I would calculate the interior height as follows: 10 U’s x 1.75” per U = 17.5” 17.5” + 0.625” = 18.125” Minimum Interior Height of Enclosure. FRAME NOTE: If you are going to make a frame on the front to make it look nicer, then make the INSIDE of the frame 19.125” to 19.25” wide, and use the INTERIOR HEIGHT MINIMUM calculation above for the INSIDE HEIGHT of the frame.
