These are a series of simple "chips" for successfully doing or quitting something. They are for you to reward yourself for good behavior. If it's quitting a bad habit, not contacting an ex, doing a good habit- whatever- you are in control of rewarding yourself with the chips. Alcoholics Anonymous has a similar system and this is in no way an attempt to make light of their system, just to let you know you're in control of yourself and help affirm that in moments of weakness.
I, for example, ate waaaay too many potato/corn chips and am using these to try to keep from eating them for a while.
