Quiriguá Stela C Annotated Tour
sketchfab
This magnificent, intricately carved colossal sandstone slab stands proudly within the Archaeological Park and Ruins of Quiriguá, a remarkably preserved UNESCO World Heritage Site nestled in the Department of Izabal, Guatemala. In 2019, our USF Libraries DHHC team conducted an exhaustive documentation survey at the site, using advanced technology to meticulously document this incredible monument with 3D laser scanning. We employed high-resolution structured light scanners to capture every intricate detail on this colossal stone structure. For a deeper understanding of Quiriguá's rich history and significance, refer to Matthew Looper's comprehensive guide, "Quirigua: A Guide to an Ancient Maya City," published in 2007. This ambitious initiative is a collaborative effort between Oswaldo Gomez, the dedicated Administrator at Parque Arqueológico Quiriguá, and our team of experts.
