Create an X-Y table with a 6mm MDF base for easy movement on your homemade printer or other projects. Easily mountable horizontally or vertically, this simple DIY project requires LM8UU linear bearings and steel components to assemble. You'll need 4x LM8UU_End_Upright_RH, 4x LM8UU_End_Upright_LH, 8x LM8UU_End_Upright_Clamp_single (using the part file for a pair, so only requiring 4 pairs), 2x LM8UU_Side_Plate_Single_Axis, and 1x LM8UU_Side_Plate_Dual_Axis. Additional materials include 4x Rolled Steel Angle 30x3x? length to suit your needs, 4x 8mm steel bright bar or ground rod of the same length, M6x25 hex head bolts (preferably socket heads), M6 nuts (square ones for easier use without tools), 6mm washers, M4x12 and M4x40 hex head bolts, and drive motors with M8 threaded rods of the desired length. Assemble end supports, centre plate assembly, fit rod assemblies, secure end supports to the RSA (Rolled Steel Angle), place carriage/rod assembly into saddles in end supports, clamp using M6 bolts, add second pair of rods, attach other end support-RSA assembly, and finally, install your drive system. Be mindful of bearing sizes, as manufacturers may vary, so ensure correct measurements before starting the project. This table is perfect for light milling projects but not suitable for heavy-duty work due to the slenderness of the 8mm rods and lack of rod separation. Enjoy your newly created X-Y table!
