Quick-swap top for Recreator3D Community Cutter PET bottle cutter
thingiverse
The Recreator3D community cutter works well for cutting PET bottles for pultrusion recycling, but normally needs labor-intensive disassembly and reassembly to swap out the top part for different cutting depths, making it difficult to process a mix of bottle types with different thicknesses requiring different strip widths. This modification (technically, a reverse engineering and re-model) provides a top part that uses quick-swappable inserts to control cut depth. Each insert only requires about 3g of material to print, and a single penny to provide the surface the strip slides against. On the intake side, insert the guide for the desired cut depth. On the exit side, optionally stack pennies to roughly match the top surface height of the penny on the intake side. Several pregenerated insert sizes are provided, but arbitrary ones up to about 14 mm can be generated in the customizer. The main part should be printed with at least 3 perimeters and 20% infill, and needs supports if you want the holes the nuts go in not to be a mess. The inserts print without supports and don't really need any particular print settings. Intended layer height for everything is 0.2 mm, with 0.4 or 0.5 mm nozzle.
