This is an unnecessary fancy way of storing your Paper Towel roll, when in use. It has a quick release, so you can swap the roll in fractions of a second! To replase the roll, simply pull on the knob and it comes right out.

It can be mounted with screws or with double sided tape.

Materials

M5x50mm countersunk-head bolt

2x M5 nut

35x9mm spring

screws/tape for mounting

Print instructions

There are two versions of the “mounts”. A smaller version that fits rolls with a diameter up to 108mm and a bigger version, that fits rolls up to 124mm in diameter.

I printed all parts in PETG. The part “Mount” requires support material in the thread area. You may also need support material with the cap part2. For additional strength, use 4-5 perimeters for the “mounts”.

Build instructions

Insert the M5 nut and bolt into the slot and hole in the "cap part1" and tigthen the bolt. Now push that bolt through the knob to clear the single layer of supportive material. Push the second M5 nut into the knob.

After that, slide the spring over the bolt and slide the cap part1 into the cap part2. Secure it with the knob on the other side. Thighten it until the cap part1 is pulled into part2 about 3-4mm deep.

Now it's time the screw this assembly into the appropriate mount. After that, the mounts can be secured to a wall or shelf. Make sure to test the distance between them with your roll of paper towel.
