Quick Release Phone - Tripod Mount (No Hardware Required)
thingiverse
This is my DIY phone mount solution, requiring no external tools or hardware. It has a catch - the design is only compatible with specific tripods. My tripod has a 41 mm x 41 mm base plate, making it a perfect fit. I believe this type of plate is known as a 3502 Quick Release, although a QS-29 should also work well. The longest part will slide into the base plate and then be secured by a rubber band tied to the bottom of that plate. These components all come together nicely in my printer, with minimal sanding needed. I sanded just one area where I removed the brim, which prevented curling from occurring. http://westrealm.com/my-first-product/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNSJwgx9ybQ Instructions This print should turn out well in either PLA or ABS plastic. It printed flawlessly in ABS, with a snug fit and minimal sanding required. The only thing I sanded were the perimeters where the brim was present. Print the parts with a 5 mm brim to prevent curling at the corners. I print these components at 20 % infill with zero support material. The base plate has some internal supports to keep the phone slot from sagging when held upside down. I use tweezers to remove these strips and lightly sand the surface, but you may prefer a rougher texture for better grip on your phone. A small rubber band adds an elastic function to the holster, reducing the risk of phone breakage when falling out without it.
