Quick Release Nut - Parametric and Configurable, OnShape

A Configurable Quick Release Nut that can be tailored and customized within OnShape.com. Refer to the pdf file for a detailed explanation. As a registered OnShape user, you have the ability to copy the source design into your file area and adapt it to suit your specific needs. The fundamental components of the design are parameters that can be easily modified. There are three distinct configurations of the design available as well. The pdf file outlines the parameters and how to access a particular configuration. The files section contains stl files for one nut configuration, in sizes 1/4-20, 5/16-18, 3/8-16, 6x1mm, 8x1.25mm, and 10x1.5mm. Other sizes and configurations can be obtained by modifying the OnShape parameters and configuration. Additional features can also be added through OnShape. I have only printed this in ABS, therefore I am unable to comment on how well the parts will fit together in PLA. There are parameters in the design that control horizontal and vertical clearances. Printing should proceed smoothly without a raft or supports, with the parts oriented as depicted in the stl files. Layer height should be 0.2mm or even smaller for finer threads. For one nut, you will require a top, a bottom, two sliders, two springs from retractable ballpoint pens, four 4-40 x 1/2" flathead screws, and four standard 4-40 1/4" nuts. I have only tested this with thread diameters ranging from 1/4" to 10mm, but I believe it may work for threads as small as 10-24 or as large as 1/2" or even larger.
