Quick Release Nut

Quick Release Nut

thingiverse

This is a custom-made quick release nut that I designed for use with my 3D printer spool holder, and it's ready to be printed out right away. By simply pressing the two buttons, you can easily slide the nut along an M8 threaded rod to any position you want. Then, just release the buttons and tighten the nut as needed - it's that simple! Since my application doesn't require a lot of retention force, I've kept things straightforward by printing the threads directly into the parts. If you need something more robust, don't worry - I've also included two prototype solutions to help you out. The first one is just to cut a standard nut in half and insert the halves into the slides, while the second uses small diameter rods as alternative threads. When it comes to generating G-code, I'm using Slic3r, and for anyone interested, I've even included SketchUp files for your convenience.
