Quick Printing Thin Plastic Whistle
thingiverse
I'm developing a quick-printing whistle that minimizes plastic usage, and I'm really satisfied with this updated design, built upon the innovative emergency whistles by DarkAlchemist and muddtt. I removed the extra loop at the end of the original design, yet created an opening in the whistle for running a string through it, thereby eliminating more plastic. For ideal results, print the whistle at 0.1mm / layer. Using thicker layers than this might lead to gaps in the material that prevent it from functioning. This custom-designed whistle uses approximately 0.4 grams of plastic, providing an effective way to use up a nearly depleted roll of plastic filament. Printing Specifications: I utilized MakerBot as my printer brand. The specific model I used is the MakerBot Replicator 1. To get optimal results, raft and support settings don't really matter when printing this whistle. Resolution of 0.1mm per layer provides excellent output. 10% infill density meets the requirements for functionality while minimizing unnecessary material use.
