Quick Print HexMaille

Quick Print HexMaille

This is an update of my HexMaille fabric, with cleaned up edges and two different size options. Most 3D printed fabrics have a bajillion tiny vertical sections that are fragile and take forever to print. They also end up being kind of thick. This version used hexagonal rings to connect the tile sections, which produces a much stronger, thinner fabric. And it prints more quickly. The small, pocket-fidget sized patch prints in just 21 minutes. The larger, more luxurious swatch prints in under 2 hours.I printed this in PLA. Use 0.2mm layers to maintain the gaps between the tiles and the connecting rings. After printing, the connecting rings need to be broken free from the tiles. Just pinch two adjacent tiles between your thumbs and index fingers and wiggle them relative to each other. You'll hear a little crackling as the joints break free. Repeat for all the tiles in the swatch!
