This mask is designed for rapid fabrication to ensure ease of production and sharing within your community. It's not intended for use by healthcare professionals, as prolonged wear may cause discomfort. The design requires minimal construction, utilizing a single piece of fabric (~10cm diameter circle) and some elastic. Holes must be punched into the flanges on the retainer to accommodate the elastic. To enhance durability, consider gluing the fabric to both the retainer and the mask. For guidance on selecting materials, refer to the paper I authored: https://www.preprints.org/manuscript/202006.0132/v1. I've found that using pieces of a H13/H14 bag filter provides satisfactory results. When working with thicker materials, you may need to scale up the retainer accordingly. Printing this mask from polypropylene yields the most comfortable outcome; however, achieving optimal results requires experimentation with layer height and speed settings to prevent layer collapse. Alternatively, PETG can be used, though it's less durable and less comfortable than polypropylene. Update: I've added a gcode and 3mf file for printing with polypropylene. Be aware that the design may fail at the steep overhang near the nose; slowing down your print speed and incorporating extra cooling from fans on the print bed can mitigate this issue. If you have a printer equipped with an advanced part cooling fan, it might be sufficient to prevent failure.
