<p>5 July 20 update: Added a step file of the assembly</p> <p>If you're like me, you struggle loading the stock buffer. I've tried several auto rewind spool holders but have struggled to get them to work, particularly if the pool is full and not well balanced.</p> <p>I really like the simplicity of the "passive" buffer that ships with the MMU. To simplify loading, I added guides to help direct the filament to the outlet.</p> <p>The steps for loading are<br/> 1) Lower the guide for the appropriate filament<br/> 2) Hold the guide down while pushing the filament through and loading the MMU<br/> 3) Once loaded reset the guide to the up position and lower the secondary lock to prevent the guide from falling during operation.<br/> 4) Enjoy consistent and reliable printing :)</p> <p>Additional hardware required<br/> PC4-M6 & PC4-M10 fittings (5 each)<br/> 608 bearings for the wheels (5x)<br/> M3-50 screws for holding everything together</p> <p>Printing is significantly improved when the assistant of Chris Frieze's and Greybeard3D's excellent model:<br/> <a href="https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/15478-baby-yoda-the-child-by-chris-frieze">https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/15478-baby-yoda-the-child-by-chris-frieze</a></p> <h3>Print instructions</h3><p>The .3mf files shoud give you examples.<br/> I printed mine out of ABS but PLA should work</p> <p>The base has some tricky overhangs where it meets - The .3mf file uses support enforcers there.</p> <p>Everything else should print fairly easily,<br/> You need<br/> 5 wheels<br/> 6 walls<br/> 1 of everything else</p>
