Qui-Gon Jinn's Working LED Lightsaber
thingiverse
I came across CaseStudyno8s sleek lightsaber replica and thought to myself, wouldn't it be fantastic if that really worked. I've made modifications so a 5mm green LED can be built right into the tip. It operates on two LR44 Batteries which are secured in place by a small spring and by the Outer Chamber. The outer Chamber is retained by a screw within the lower ON-Off Button. To swap out the batteries release the screw, push the Outer Chamber forward and spin it by 180°. Since I detest printing with supports and I generally do not prepare or paint my prints, I aim to design them so they print without needing support. This led me to alter some of the finer details of certain parts, mainly by adding 45-degree chamfers to the ones featuring extremely strong overhangs. Parts required: 1x green LED 5mm 1x square push switch (10mmx10mm mounting hole) 1x small spring (approximately 8mm long, 6mm in diameter) 2x LR44 battery 1x small ring cable lug (around 5mm hole diameter) some wire Additional downloads (from the original Model http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1085891): Qui-Gon_Outer_Chamber (or MM_Qui-Gon_Outer_Chamber for supported) Qui-Gon_Pommel Print Settings Printer: Velleman K8200 Rafts: No Supports: No
