Quest Q40 Wall Hanger
thingiverse
Recently acquired a Quest Q40 metal detector and because of its distinctive shaft design and rapid compression capabilities, I decided to create a wall hanger that perfectly suits the device's unique space requirements. However, upon searching for available designs, I found nothing suitable, so I had to think outside the box and get creative. I began by examining the CTX3030 hanger as a starting point and extrapolating its design to fit the Quest Q40 metal detector seamlessly. This led me to create a sturdy mount that wraps around the center DD cross bar, providing a snug yet secure hold for the coil/detector. When it came time to print this custom part, I chose to lay it flat to maximize strength and minimize the risk of failure. Using my FF Dreamer printer at standard quality ABS settings, but with some tweaks to ensure optimal performance, I printed the part in just over 2 hours. To guarantee its stability, I opted for a solid perimeter design with a fill type of 3d and a percentage of 50%. It's worth noting that even though there are guide holes for screws on this design, it's essential to pre-drill them according to your specific screw size to avoid any potential splitting issues. The layers on this print run parallel to the screws, so it's crucial to take this precaution. This project marked my first attempt at modifying a design and adapting it for a different task, as well as my inaugural post on this platform.
