Quest 3 Sleek Controller Mounts for Magnetic Gunstock (Sanlaki style, top-side mounting)
thingiverse
These are gunstock controller mounts for the Meta Quest 3 VR headset and the popular Sanlaki gunstock design. This thing is the successor design for the Quest 3 Gunstock Controller Mounts. Please note that the design is not final yet, but in absence of any top-side Quest 3 controller mounts available decided to upload a first prototype early.RemarkPlease note that the controller mounts have slightly larger pipe exerts than the original Sanlaki design. The controller mounts have been designed for my Sanlaki remix Magnetic Gunstock (Modified & Optimized), which uses slightly larger pipes.According to feedback received the pipe exerts fit well for the original Sanlaki design, too.DescriptionThe mounts have been created using the model Quest 3 Sanlaki sleek gun controller mount from FinlessBob, providing a perfect and super-tight fit.Latest development status (Nov. 22th):More room for joystick control via thumb (adding again 5mm more height)Stilt diameter has been increased for more stabilityAdding of cap models with increased width (105%, 110% and 115%) to accommodate for too tight fit of controller mountsThere are now two versions for each controller mount:Normal version w/o eyeletWith eyeletI thought it might be useful to have the cap attached to the controller mount, in case of frequent assembly/disassembly, so that the tiny cap does not get lost. For the left controller models with single mounts are available as well.I also did create a remix-ready version of the mounts, Quest 3 Sleek Controller Mounts, w/o any additional parts, just the mounts. Feel free to use for your remix.AssemblySlide the mount over the controller from the top and put the cap on the extrusions for press fit.Print settings0.4mm nozzle and 0.2mm resolution works. Anyhow I would recommend 0.15mm resolution for best results.I did use 20% gyroid infill with Tough PLA. No problems, very stable. According to feedback 15% infill is fine as well (and helps to reduce the print time). I would recommend a brim for better adhesion of first layer.Due to the complex geometry with overhangs I would suggest printing with supports. I did use PVA, which works fine for me.Please see below my major support print settings (standard values for PVA, Cura 5.1.1):Support structure: TreeTree Support Branch Angle: 40°Tree Support Branch Distance: 1.0mmTree Support Branch Diameter: 2.0mmTree Support Branch Angle: 5.0°Tree Support Collision Resolution: 0.2mmSupport Placement: EverywhereSupport Overhang Angle: 45°Support Pattern: Gyroid
