Credit to sanlaki July 10, 2020https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4538594Thanks Chri for the scans of the Quest 3 controller used to create these models.https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6275072This is my design for the controller magnet mounts for Meta Quest 3 controllers. This design is specifically made to work with my design for the Ques 3 knuckle straps.https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6291831This design is contoured to the controllers and has a split in the body to allow it to fit around the straps and snap into place. There are latches used to secure these holders in place. These magnet holders use the same size magnets as the original designs:32mm diameter, 7.6mm height, 95lbs pull force cup magnet for dominant hand25mm diameter, 5.5mm height, 60lbs pull force cup magnets for front handThe holders are designed to secure to 1/2" (12.7mm) steel pipeThis design is originally made right-hand dominant. If left-hand dominant is desired, then mirroring the models is needed. Testing this design showed there is some occlusion issues that need to be worked out when the front hand is holding the weapon in the horizontal orientation. As I do further testing and design updates, I will post any beneficial changes to the models.UPDATE 11/15/2023Because of the extreme angel when holding the front controller in the horizontal position, notches are needed to allow visibility of the tracking lights on the angled edge of the controller. I have uploaded a new model for the left controller. Thumb position matters as well so you don't block the lights on the angled edge. Tracking loss can still happen when holding in the horizontal position but not as often. UPDATE 1/21/2024After 100 hours of usage, the right controller ring developed a stress crack on the right side starting at the notch for the knuckle strap and down to the base. I will increase the body thickness and post a version 2 once I have updated the models.UPDATE 8/22/2024After breaking a few mag mounts and adjusting position of the magnets a little more, I've decided on a single mag mount on both controllers to minimize occlusion and better align the position of the physical gunstock to the virtual alignment in-game. I've created stronger mounts for both. The clip on the left controller will need to be notched to give enough clearance to engage.UPDATE 8/29/2024Started working on an alternat sleeve design that snaps into place and doesn't require locking clip to hold it onto the controller. The snap-on design fits snug onto the controller. It is a larger design, so it takes more time to print and requires a little more post printing cleanup. They add about 4mm of bulk to the controller grip. I have only tested for about six hours of game play so far. But they feel rigid enough to last and they make battery change a little quicker.
