Queensland Railways RM55 Railmotor 1:76
thingiverse
RM55 started life as an AEC petrol powered railmotor in December 1930. It was constructed at the Queensland Railways Ipswich Workshops, Australia. It was based on the chassis of an AEC bus/truck, and when first constructed had no side windows. In 1938 the body was enclosed, and the AEC petrol motor replaced with a 38 kW (50hp) 4-cylinder Gardner diesel engine. This model was purely a design exercise as I had no intention to make it into an operating model. I did, however, create a dummy motor unit based on a Black Bug power unit. It's not a particularly refined model - the roof is really just the basic shape and still needs to be sanded to achieve the final compound curve at the front. I finished my 1:76 model for static display only. I have printed it successfully at 1:64 scale. A remix of this model has been created by "tsgrocky" to represent RM28 "Aunt Emma": https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5406582
