Queendomino Coin and Parts Trays

Queendomino is another game that suffers from the genetic defect of having many pieces and lacking a tidy way to store them. Bagging them or throwing them into a plastic container won't cut it. It's no wonder we have 3D printers, after all. As I browsed through these digital halls, I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for, but **3E8**'s nice trays for Queendomino inspired me. These aren't strictly remixes since I built them from scratch, but he had some good ideas. My needs were specific... and always are. I didn't need to rebuild the entire box insert (my initial reaction), but instead, I added a couple of trays that fit into the slightly larger well in the corner and stack one on top of the other. The size of the pieces combined with the limited depth of the well means the bottoms are thinner than I'd like (1mm), but they're still really sturdy and fit snugly - the scorepad rests right on top, which actually helps keep everything in place. The top tray holds the pieces, meeples, and tiny knights, is inset on the bottom, and marginally wider to nest over the outer and inner edges of the coin tray. This keeps the coins from slipping out their wells, as it's keyed - there's a right and wrong direction. The little knights are in a compartment with rounded bottom edges for easy retrieval and a lid to keep them where they belong. The coin tray is just that - not much to say about it. It has a handle, which is fancy! These trays pass my storage test: packing the box and giving it a good shake while turning it in all directions. Everything stayed in place (a few little castles toppled, but they remained in their compartments).
