As Creator of Learning and Discovery Experiences, I spearheaded a six week project at Westport Library's dynamic MakerSpace, forging innovative collaborations among staff, patrons, and myself. Together, we conceptualized, crafted, and brought to life elaborate cardboard costumes embodying chess pieces, meticulously designed to bring an exciting twist to the classic game. Using cutting-edge technology, participants were scanned using Autodesk 123D Catch, resulting in highly detailed digital meshes. To perfect these intricate models, skilled editing with Meshmixer followed by precision repair work on Netfabb ensured flawless results. Each chess piece model was then seamlessly integrated into a sturdy base using Tinkercad. The Westport Library chess pieces were manufactured using a MakerBot Replicator in ABS material at a high-definition resolution of 0.3mm and with 10% infill printing parameters.
