Standing at the center of the southern enclosure, this historic fountain was unveiled on May 25, 1846, to celebrate the Queen's twenty-seventh birthday. Designed by A.H.Wilds, it was jointly funded by John Cordy Burrows and a community donation, with production handled by the Eagle Foundry in Gloucester Road. Dimensions of the Fountain Reaching thirty-two feet tall, this stunning structure features two shallow pools supported by three iron dolphins above a large pool, resting atop a base of sarsen stones found in 1823 near the Steine by local workers. To commemorate its opening day, local musician Charles Coote composed the renowned Fountain Quadrilles.
