Nefertiti, known as "the beautiful one has come," ruled Egypt as queen and wed Pharaoh Akhenaten in the 14th century B.C. She and her husband spearheaded the cult of Aten, the sun god, and championed Egyptian artwork that broke dramatically with its traditional style.
