Elizabeth (1596-1662), known as 'The Winter Queen', was a sister to Charles I of England. This bust is one of two matching pieces featuring Elizabeth alongside her husband, King Frederick V, in the collection of H.R.H. the Prince of Hanover. It was among the very first commissions secured by the sculptor after he relocated from England to the Hague, where the Queen resided in exile.
