Qubit Fluorimeter Multiplex Tube Rack for DNA Quantification in Molecular Biology
prusaprinters
This is a tube rack for holding Qubit tubes, meant to increase your pipetting efficiency by 4x. Each section is spaced so that you can use an 8-tip multichannel pipette to add reagent and samples 4 at a time, making your life 4x easier and getting your results 4x faster. The arms were originally meant to hold Qubit tubes, however because the manufacturer changed the tube tolerances, I decided to size up the holes so that there is no chance that the tubes could get stuck in the rack. For those of you who haven't used a Qubit fluorimeter before, this is a type of fluorimetric assay that uses a reagent which fluoresces when you put DNA into it. The level of fluorescence is proportional to the amount of DNA added to the reagent. This allows you to accurately measure DNA in order to perform downstream applications such as PCR, sequencing, gel assays, etc. Who doesn't want to get their experiments done faster, right??Usually, this is done 1 tube at a time, which as you can imagine is very slow. This rack addresses this issue by allowing you to pipette 4 samples at a time, which increases your efficiency by 4x. If you had to do 48 samples, it can be very tedious, not to mention that it increases the likelihood of carpal tunnel syndrome. Another benefit is that by batch pipetting the samples 4 at a time, the likelihood of sample mix up is also reduced.Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! I printed mine in PLA at 0.24mm layer height.
