Got fed up with the sagging X-axis and discovered that the pulley mod was only limited in its ability to help. Remixed Stephanburger's parts and modified them so they would mirror correctly, with the idle puller screw facing the back instead. Quality took a huge leap forward! 0.05 mm layers were achievable using a 0.25 mm hot end. Created 20 layers of thin lithopanes with this mod without experiencing any problems whatsoever. Note that to benefit from this modification, you need to move the existing Y-axis motor to the center of the base and secure it together with the belt. This will also eliminate the "sideways jerk" issue plaguing your printer (it was another individual who came up with this idea initially - feel free to chime in if I'm incorrect). The aluminum platform I have chosen as a substitute is working well, as the original fiber board would warp all the time. Attempted to use 3D printing for the new base, but it just wasn't straight enough to meet my standards. UPDATE 08-10-2018: With Stephanburger's sudden disappearance and his original files being wiped clean, I've been asked to share them now. Please be aware that all credit for these contents goes directly to Stephanburger, who created them. I merely remixed the second Z-axis mod based on his original design. Instructions: To proceed with this customization, you will need to relocate the Y-axis motor and belt to the base as depicted earlier (another person also came up with this solution initially). Required parts include: -A stepper motor (connected in parallel to your existing Z motor) -A drive screw sourced from QUBD or any other supplier -A drive nut provided by QUBD or alternative sources -A coupler available from QUBD or elsewhere In addition, you will need to print a few screws that will secure the top and bottom parts (Stephanburger's design).
