Quartz point from a ritual cache

myminifactory

This quartz point originates from American Indians, crafted between 3,000 to 6,000 years ago, and was unearthed by archaeologists in a pit feature linked to a post-Civil War residence inhabited by an African American family on Manassas National Battlefield Park today. According to the 1880 census, Philip and Sarah Nash, along with their five children, resided in this house at that time. The pit feature also yielded six unaltered quartz crystals and a piece of galena. Archaeologists interpret this as a ritual cache similar to African spirit bundles (referencing Laura Galke's work in 2000, "Free Within Ourselves").
