Quarto has a 4×4 grid and 16 components. Each component has four binary characteristics – hue, elevation, form, and texture – so each piece is either dark or light, high or low, square or circular, and empty or solid. The objective is to place the fourth piece in a row where all four pieces share at least one characteristic in common.
