Quarto Game

Quarto is a board game created by Blaise Muller, whose email address is blaise.muller@9online.fr, and published by Gigamic. All credit goes to them for this game. I make no claim to it; instead, I'm just providing a simple setup for playing the game. Description Quarto is designed specifically for two players. The board consists of 16 squares (4x4), with each piece constructed from four unique characteristics: - Size: tall or short - Colour: dark or light - in my case, I only had white filament, so I used red and black tape to identify the colour - Shape: round or square - Hole: a piece with a hole or without one Objective The goal of the game is to complete a line with four pieces that share at least one characteristic in common (four big pieces, four little ones, four red ones, four blue ones, four circular pieces, four square ones, four pieces with holes, or four without holes). This line can be vertical, horizontal, or diagonal. The winner is the player who places the fourth piece of this line. How the Game Proceeds Players take turns placing one piece on the board; once a piece is inserted, it cannot be moved. One of the game's special features is that the choice of which piece to place next on the board isn't made by the same player who places it. Instead, the opponent decides after making their move which piece will be placed next. Each turn involves two actions: 1. Place the piece given by the opponent onto the board. 2. Choose a piece for the opponent's next move. In the first turn of the game, the starting player only has to choose a piece for the opponent. Final Result The game ends in a draw when neither player reaches their objective after all 16 pieces have been placed.
