quarter wave phone stand/amplifier
thingiverse
I had some interest in creating a compact quarter wave amplifier, perfect for attaching to a phone. Not being entirely familiar with true quarter wave acoustic devices didn't deter me from experimenting, and I was pleased to find that this miniaturized version produced a significantly louder sound than my previous bell-shaped phone amplifier design. To print the device, I recommend orienting it at a 45-degree angle and setting the support structure to 85 degrees. This way, there will be no internal supports to remove during assembly, and only the bridge area under where the phone is placed requires additional support. A small piece on the back helps maintain the device's position at 45 degrees while printing. Load this design into your slicer and print it as instructed for optimal results. I also employed a raft for extra support during printing, although this might not be necessary depending on your printer's specifications. The phone's dimensions are 85mm x 13.5mm, accommodating most phones with bumper cases. Plans are underway to create a version compatible with OtterBox Plus-sized phones, which may involve enlarging the bell size.
