Quarry Hill Cave Graffiti
sketchfab
Small section of carved graffiti in the man-made cave at Quarry Hill Nature Center, Rochester, Minnesota. Hold down the alt-key to view some of the marks and move your mouse to change the origin of the light. The cave was carved by patients at the Rochester State Hospital in 1882 under the supervision and direction of patient Thomas Coyne. The cave served as a cold cellar for food storage, using produce grown on the hospital property by the patients. Thousands of graffiti are carved into the soft sandstone of the cave, with this model representing only a small segment approximately one square meter in size. As the cave remains unlit, the model was created using eleven photos taken with a flash and a Motorola Moto G5 Plus mobile phone camera. The model was processed using Metashape 1.5.1 software.
