If the lens flopping up and down inside the housing becomes a nuisance, this design securely locks the original lens bracket into an adjustable semi-permanent position. Once you've put together the lens and its locking mechanism and are satisfied with the result, it's highly recommended that you apply a small amount of CA glue to where the original arms fit into the side of the original lens frame. When these arms pop out, they usually require complete disassembly to snap them back in place. Avoid applying the glue until after passing them through the locking mechanism or else assembly will be impossible.
