Qualcast, a company known for manufacturing high-quality lawnmowers, had a long history of producing reliable mowers in Derby that were affordable to homeowners with small yards. Their products became incredibly popular due to their affordability and durability, making the company a huge success during most of the 20th century. While Qualcast-branded lawnmowers are still being manufactured today, the production process has shifted out of Derbyshire. This commemorative foundry plate was crafted using the final metal poured at the Qualcast foundry on Victory Lane in Derby. The plaque is intricately embossed with the words 'QUALCAST FOUNDRY / 1929 - 2005 / FINAL CAST OCTOBER 18TH.' This image was created through a collaborative effort between our team and a group of dedicated volunteers.
