This innovative design was crafted to overcome the formidable challenge of powering and propelling a miniature race car using the components of a compact quadcopter. To successfully meet this challenge, numerous constraints were carefully considered and incorporated into the design created. Additional details can be found within the accompanying portfolio. The gears required for optimal performance should be printed from high-strength, temperature-resistant materials like nylon. Unfortunately, time limitations prevented us from printing all the gears in nylon, resulting in noticeable wear on those made from alternative materials. The main body of the car was successfully printed using Taulman t-glase PETT. Assembly Guidelines: The quadcopter utilized for this project was a Hubsan X4. Disconnect all motor wires from the control board. Depending on your preference, solder extension cables to the motors. After passing the motor wires through the car body and reconnecting them to the control board, proceed with assembly. The small gears can be press-fit onto the end of the motor shafts. The Maximum Velocity Speed Wheels used were well-suited for this project. The large gears were slid onto the shaft and glued securely to the wheels. Due to time constraints, we were unable to devise a more effective method for securing the ends of the drive shafts. Feel free to remix and enhance this design!
