Quadcopter Motor Mount (10mm Rod) ArmaQuad
thingiverse
I'm just getting started on my new quadcopter project about one to two months ago. I've placed orders for parts from various online sources, but not every single part has arrived yet. You can follow the build process at my blog: http://www.cokhosumagidiyo.com The goal is to create a brushless outrunner motor mount made out of 10mm thick carbon fiber rods. As this project is still in progress, there are some challenges I'm facing. The printing orientation affects the part's strength. When printed with the motor side facing down, the rod becomes incredibly weak. However, when the rod-end is placed facing down (meaning rotated x-axis 90 degrees) - if you insert it through the hole, it would be perpendicular to that plane), the motor mount becomes weak and the screws can crack the mount apart. Clearly, some refinement is needed. I'm welcoming comments and advice on how to improve this part. If you have any suggestions, please share them! I've included the SCAD file for your reference. When creating this piece, remember to design with a 0.20mm layer height.
