Quadcopter Frame

In "The Generate Quadcopter Challenge," I was unable to use cloud-based generative design software or topology optimization tools, so I relied on Solidworks for designing and optimizing my quadcopter. My innovative design is based on an I-beam structure, which forms the basis of tall buildings, railroads, bridges, planes, and various other structures due to its ability to handle maximum bending loads with minimal material usage. To enhance efficiency, I shaped the I-beam in a way that maximizes its properties while minimizing material use, resulting in a lightweight frame (5.19 grams) made of ABS material. The design incorporates a protective room for electronics, positions the battery and motor controllers on top of the frame, and features hooks on the sides to attach payloads using straps.
