The design was specifically crafted for a novel drawing machine I've been working on for a year. Originally, the machine used Fast-Fourier Transform to listen to a selected Computer Music piece and capture signal peaks, which were then fed into an algorithmic program based on the composition's original theory and equations. This innovative design was created for the 2nd International Csound Conference at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. For further details about the process and other drawing machines, please visit http://christopherkonopka.com/works/machine-drawings-fft-machine. An example of the FFT-based machine rendering a composition in real-time can be seen on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WavGRB6rXYM. The piece used was Dr. Richard Boulanger's "Trapped in Convert." Additionally, I incorporated elements from Thingiverse files, such as support for a micro servo (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:91331) and a servo direct connector (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:51425).
