Quad-Magnet Childsafe Cabinet Key
thingiverse
Create a safe storage for magnets used with magnetic cabinet locks. Assemble a stack of four rare earth (neodymium) magnets, each with a 0.5-inch diameter and 0.1-inch thickness. Print a holder using ABS filament to keep the magnets together and ensure child safety. The holder should be designed so that the lid is printed next to it for easy assembly. Make sure to print with 100% fill and no extra shells for efficiency. Assemble the magnet stack inside the key body, then install the lid over the magnets. Before inserting the lid into the hole, wipe its edges with acetone for a secure fit. Seal the lid in place by applying acetone around the top of the seam using a q-tip. Perform a drop test to ensure the lid doesn't come off or any parts break off, posing a choking hazard. Remember that magnets can be dangerous if ingested by children, so exercise caution when handling and storing these magnetic devices. While professionally assembled magnet-device-assemblies are safer, for DIY enthusiasts, this guide provides a solution to keep the magnets together securely and out of reach of children.
