A Wireless Charger Upgrade for the Quad Lock Pro Bike Phone Mount Having spent countless hours on long distance cycling, I've found that my phone's battery often gives up way too soon. In dry weather, a simple USB cable and charger do the trick, but when the rain sets in, the charge connector can quickly get wet or contaminated, leading to spotty charging. Nothing's more frustrating than seeing a "battery low warning" when your legs are screaming for mercy! ### Instructions To upgrade your Quad Lock Pro Bike Phone Mount with a wireless charger, follow these steps: This module replaces the blue part of a Quad Lock Bike Mount Pro that can be purchased online for around £25: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Quad-Lock-Bike-Mount-Only/dp/B008O0USLO. It allows your iPhone or other Qi-compatible phone to charge continuously while attached to the mount, eliminating the need for cables and maintaining the secure locking mechanism. The Qi Wireless Charger PCBA can be purchased from Amazon for approximately £7: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07DC3JL89. To fit the wireless charger inside the coil (18mm), you'll need to remove the black magnetic shield. I used masking tape and small handheld cutters to avoid damaging the brittle ferrous material. Clean the PCBA and coil thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol, then apply multiple layers of nail varnish to seal them from moisture, contamination, and humidity. The coil and charger PCBA should fit snugly inside the housing. Connect a USB cable, fill any remaining space with glue, and attach the two halves together using a glue gun. Once cooled, remove excess material with a sharp knife and apply multiple layers of clear nail varnish to fully seal the enclosure. ### To Install it on the Mount Remove the metal screw from the middle of the Quad Lock mount, take off the top black part, blue part, and spring. Cut the spring in half due to the thicker charger. Replace the top black part and secure it with an M5 nylon screw and nut (located inside the body). *** IMPORTANT *** Make sure you replace the original metal screw with a plastic one (e.g., https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01HY2ZCBI). Metal screws can rapidly heat up and damage your phone due to inductive charging. ### Design The parts were designed using FreeCAD, my first experience with the tool. I was impressed by its ease of use and parameter-based approach, which helped me get precise dimensions for the latch and snugly fit the wireless charge module.
