Quacks of Quedlinburg - Ingredient sleeves
thingiverse
I have played the game Quacks of Quedlinburg (German: Quacksalber von Quedlinburg) a lot. What I found is that after a while the ingredient tokens are hardly readable ad the print wears of. What I was looking for were token sleeves. Unfortunately something like that doesn't exist. I like the separate plastic tokens from BGG, but I wasn't willing to pay more for the tokens than for the whole game itself. So my solution was to design sleeves that have a tight fit, can't be distinguished by touch, aren't too big so that they still fit on the board, and can be removed again without damaging the paper token itself. After a lot of adjustment on my printer I am quite happy with the final solution. I printed these with a 0.8mm nozzle on 0.3mm layer height with translucent PETG, which for me was the best compromise between print time, translucency and reduction of post-print-work. (obviously, please flip the lid upside down before printing. No support should be needed) Pictures 1-3 show the final result Picture 4 shows the comparison between a 0.8mm nozzle with a single 0.3mm base layer vs a 0.4mm nozzle with two 0.2mm base layers. Picture 5 shows one of the disadvantages of getting that nice glass finish, which is that if the light over your board game table is set in a certain angle then, like all shiny surfaces, it makes it difficult to see the token as the light will reflect.
