qu-bd MBE water cooled extruder
thingiverse
This experiment involves cooling a qu-bd MBE extruder using water. It can be mounted on an ordinary bot hadron carriage or almost any printer. The setup requires a Bowden drive for filament feeding and utilizes a GPU heatsink (a 40mm x 40mm x 12mm Aluminium Water Cooling Heatsink Block Waterblock Liquid Cooler New for CPU GPU, priced at $4.99 including shipping). The cooler is secured with two 5mm screws and nuts to maintain a flat position against the MBE body. Drilling bolt holes in the MBE body will be done to countersink screws, allowing motor mount screws to pass through. This extruder replaces the one in Thingiverse's http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:193433. The goal is to create a heated chamber while keeping the extruder light and efficient. Revisions include changes to clamps, pivots, hole sizes, and better MBE body block fixation.
