QU-BD MBE Bowden Experiment-1 - ord bot mount
thingiverse
This untested design consists of 3 printable parts for converting a stock qu-bd extruder to use a bowden tube. The creator notes that it is an experiment and has yet to develop a mount for the drive portion. The primary objective is to position two print heads closely on the ord-bot, possibly by removing the drive motors and utilizing a bowden setup. However, the body block from the MBE may not be compatible due to the close proximity of its 6mm tapped holes. This initial design intends to help debug the bowden concept. The required non-printed parts include qu-bd MBE extruder kit, straight quick connectors, pneumatic fittings, and 4mm x 1/8" PT male thread, 1M PTFE/Teflon tubing, a 624 bearing, three M3 screws for mounting the drive parts to the stepper motor, an M4 screw for the bearing, and a spring. The creator has successfully printed with this setup for over a month using a water-cooled hot end instead of the air-cooled one, considering the bowden setup a success after adjusting the retract. They are now focused on perfecting the water-cooled extruder and will post further updates accordingly.
