QR Plate for MeFOTO Tripods (Backpacker and RoadTrip)

This will work with the MeFOTO RoadTrip or Backpacker tripods. Would I trust this to hold my Hasselblad and telephoto lens securely? Probably not - Use the genuine and beautifully machined MeFOTO part for critical applications (at $28, it is CNC, rock-solid insurance). However, this widget is ideal for lighter duty situations, like a point and shoot or (D)SLR. Perhaps a 3D printed pinhole camera? Instructions Mimicking the MeFOTO plate design at the clamp, the QR plate has been optimized for DIY use - Use a 1/4-20 machine screw, 1/2 inch-long, but spacers will allow you to use longer hardware if necessary. I printed these a 0.20mm layer height, with 2 perimeters, 50% infill, 3 layers top and bottom. Hastily thrown together in Tinkercad (which is still a great quick and dirty CAD app). --------------------------------------------------- In other news, I am reserving judgement on the Thingiverse / Makerbot patent controversy for now.. I try to maintain a certain "brand" in my designs, and openly sharing them through Thingiverse has been central to my personal values and goals for my projects. Further, I am invested in the CC licensing that allows me to share my designs for non-commercial purposes and retain an ownership of them, while allowing derivations and all manner of fair use. Thingiverse and Makerbot have been kind to me, but this situation weighs heavy in my and other Thingiversians' hearts. I hope it can be resolved to everyone's satisfaction.
