Qidi X-Pro Directed Flow Part Cooling Duct Replacement
thingiverse
I recently got around to upgrading my Qidi X-Pro printer and found it a good time to design a replacement for the stock part cooling duct. The Qidi X-Pro is a fairly good and well-built printer. However, the stock cooling duct is more of an ornament than an actual functioning cooling duct. With that said, I came up with a relatively easy to print design that features four directed air outlet ports (two per nozzle). It isn't perfect but after my testing, I found it far more efficient at getting the air where it needs to go than the stock cooling duct. Some notes; : I've provided two separate part model options for the Upper Duct Bottom and the Lower Duct. This gives you the option of printing those parts with the built-in breakaway supports or without the built-in supports. Note that you can print the Lower Duct with no supports. However, you will get a little more sagging on the top of the air outlet ports. The Upper Duct Bottom requires support only on the area that meets the fan mouth. : The stock Qidi X-Pro that I have has the mounting plate that the fan & duct screws against set at an angle on the hot end head assembly (see picture) from the factory. I designed the mouth of the Upper Duct to meet the fan at an angle for this purpose. If this is not the case with your printer the cooling duct most likely will not line up correctly. : The hot end on the Qidi X-Pro is set in place using a small allen head set screw up against the heat break pipe. With that in mind, the height on your printer may not be the same as it is on mine. If this is the case you can simply disassemble the hot end and adjust your heat break pipes up or down to line up with the new Cooling Duct. : As a bonus, this Cooling Duct weighs in at around 13 grams. That is 7 grams lighter than the stock duct, weighing in at around 20 grams (see pictures).
