Update July 19, 2021 Small fix of the bearing wheels, thanks to andyshinn on Discord. :) New files are called: external-608-roller-bearing-wheel-12-1.1.stl external-608-roller-bearing-wheel-22-1.1.stl Update March 7, 2021 Added optional "tall" rod holders. This will lift the spool 15 cm higher, minimizing the risk of spool tangles when the filament is reversed from the extruder (when the print head goes from the front to the back). It will also allow for very large spools. The files added are: external-rod-holder-left-tall-1.0.stl external-rod-holder-right-tall-1.0.stl About The Adjustable Spool Holder for QIDI X-Plus and X-Max works with most filament spools up to 1 Kg. It uses common 608 roller bearings (search for 608ZZ or 608RS, I bought 4 for €4) for a smooth rotation of the filament spool. The spool holder is moved back slightly, allowing for larger spools and for the optional roll-off saver. If you don't have any roller bearings you can print and install the rod extenders instead, it will not move as smoothly but should be fine until you can get your hands on some 608's. You can also print and use the optional "Roll-Off Savers", one on each side of the spool, to minimize the risk of filament jumping over the spool, although it's unlikely it will happen with the tall version, even with new spools. Make sure you feed the filament from below the spool through the black filament guide tube. BOM - Bill of Materials 2 x 608ZZ roller bearings 1 x M3 or M4 screw and bolt (15 mm) (optional, you can use the stock screw and nut) What to print Print the following parts: external-spool-holder-top-1.0.stl external-spool-holder-bottom-1.0.stl If you're using very wide inner diameter spools you can print these instead: external-spool-holder-top-wide-1.0.stl external-spool-holder-bottom-wide-1.0.stl Also print these parts: external-rod-holder-left-1.0.stl external-rod-holder-right-1.0.stl external-608-roller-bearing-housing-12-1.0.stl external-608-roller-bearing-housing-22-1.0.stl external-608-roller-bearing-wheel-12-1.1.stl external-608-roller-bearing-wheel-22-1.1.stl Optionally, print these parts: external-optional-roll-off-saver-12-1.0.stl external-optional-roll-off-saver-22-1.0.stl Also optionally, if you don't have any 608 bearings yet, print these: external-optional-rod-extender-12-1.0.stl external-optional-rod-extender-22-1.0.stl Donations All my designs are free, they're developed and tested in my spare time and most have source files available for easy editing.
